At our Day Program we offer a variety of activity choices like computers, fine arts, crafts, gardening or fitness to our clients. More importantly, Adelante supports individuals to be out and about in the community learning about and enjoying many outdoor activities, accessing museums and cultural sites, and volunteering.
General Description Of Duties:
As a Community Support staff you will;
- Assist adults with special needs in training of daily living skills.
- Provide assistance with eating and all aspects of personal care.
- Work with individuals with severe behavior problems if necessary.
- Document individual's progress and make recommendations for program changes.
- Assist with training other personnel as required.
- Participate in the ISP process, team meetings, and time-study process.
- Prepare associated written documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required with post high school, college preferred.
- Must have the ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with internal and external customers of Adelante.
- Have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors and co-workers.
- Must be able to handle behavior problems potentially involving verbal & physical aggression; individuals with medical problems.
- Have the ability to present a friendly, courteous image for the Agency to the general public, customers, and public officials.
- Experience working with adults with mental, physical and disabilities preferred.
- Must complete specific certifications (from our training department) and maintain those certifications throughout employment.
Other Requirements: Must pass background/fingerprint investigation, pre-employment drug screening and TB test. Must have own reliable transportation, valid NM drivers license, insurable driving record and proof of current liability insurance. Must have effective verbal communication and writing skills. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with assistance or independently, repeatedly throughout the day. Must be able to support up to 70-100 lbs. occasionally. Adelante is a drug free workplace. Job Type: Full-Time; Monday thru Friday 8am - 4pm.
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
