General Description of Duties:
The Director of Nursing is an essential member of the Community Operations leadership team, responsible for overseeing high-quality healthcare services and ensuring the well-being of those we serve. Duties of the Director of Nurses include but are not limited to:
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of each individuals medical care based on medical history, health-care needs and programs. Administers medications orally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly and nebulized.
- Oversees all assigned staff ensuring contact to community based health care providers so that all medical issues are addressed and to ensure clients health and wellbeing; Responsible for the coordination of appointments and transportation for client health services; Ensures staff accompanies clients to appointments as required.
- Develops individual training and personal care programs as prescribed in individual service plans; implements training programs for certified medication aides, attendant care for all staff, assists in all skill areas including activities of daily living.
- Insures all state and federal rules and regulations for medication technicians and certified medication aides, licensed home care as well as Adult Bureau certification standards are adhered to.
- Reviews nursing narratives in case record, maintains accurate records, adheres to strict confidentiality policy; report monthly to the VP of Community Living and the Board of Nursing on CMA status.
- Responsible for ensuring nursing coverage 24-7 by scheduling nurses as required. Responsible for and participates in stand by and on call rotation schedule for evenings and weekends.
- Adheres to strict confidentiality policy; attends all meetings as required and educates staff as needs arise.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Training Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in nursing required
- Five (5) year experience in health care with persons with developmental disabilities required
- Three (2) years supervised nursing experience required.
- Licensed to practice nursing within the State of New Mexico.
Must be able to communicate clearly, effectively and legibly in verbal and written modes. Must be able to work independently and within a team atmosphere. Must be flexible to changes in schedule, assignment. Ability to maintain a professional work environment.
Other Requirements:
Must pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM drivers license and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have an Agency insurable driving record and reliable transportation. Must be able to perform keyboarding/typing skills, sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, carry, frequently. Must be able to squat, reach above shoulder(s), kneel, balance, push, pull, lift 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be sufficiently mobile to visit other sites, agencies, etc. without prior notice.

Pay Starting From: $75,000 annually DOE.
