General Description of Duties: DiverseIT is a nationally recognized award-winning program aimed at expanding technical training and technical careers with jobs to those groups who have been traditionally excluded. This position will be responsible for growing this exciting program in Albuquerque and New Mexico. The primary duties of this position include:

  • Overseeing the general operation of the site, keeping team members working and ensuring the site is consistently clean and organized; ready for visiting funders, trainees, and repair customers.
  • Scheduling trainings in collaboration with our DiverseIT trainers as well as community partners who are seeking training (schools where we teach and local businesses whose teams need training).
  • Supervising the computer repair shop to ensure that work is done correctly, parts are ordered in a timely manner, customer equipment and data is handled safely, and the shop is organized for a team environment with proper tracking in our customer management system so techs can handle questions if someone else is out or busy with another customer.
  • With the goal of bring more diversity to the tech field, this manager must have the ability to work with a variety of employees including people with various disabilities and individuals on the autism spectrum.
  • Ensuring team members are trained on DiverseIT and Adelante procedures, technical support, tech training, customer service, as well as any state-required trainings for supporting people with disabilities in the workforce.
  • Working with the VP, Finance Team, and with the Development team as well as the DiverseIT operations team to ensure the deliverables for a number of grants and contracts are completed and tracked.
  • Works with the NM Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and other funders to coordinate IT trainingfor people with disabilities or people with disadvantages who want to work in IT.
  • Provides support documents about the training we can provide to garner funding and work collaboratively with both the funders and internal teams to resolve issues.
  • Manage the training and support of each individual doing training through DiverseIT from initial request,through funding, and throughout the training process to final billing.
  • Ensuring people receive the training we agreed to provide, that the staff at DiverseIT is supporting the client to the best of their ability, and working with our Service Coordinator and/or DVR to address any challenges.
  • Respond to market needs for tech training, helping to develop computer classes and tech training programs that support our target audiences and our revenue goals. This includes working with community partners to find out their needs and with the DiverseIT team, developing curriculum to meet those needs.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in computer hardware/software relevant to the program
  • Experience in managing people and business partnerships required
  • Degree from technical or community college preferred
  • Preferred experience working with adults with disabilities
  • Clear and cordial English communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Proficient in reading and writing English to understand procedures, give/receive instructions, and present information
  • Effective use of technology for individuals with diverse needs
  • Regularly makes independent judgments related to job tasks
  • Ability to convey technical information clearly to users
  • Operate computer and relevant software applications
  • Maintain harmonious and courteous relationships with employees, funders, contracts, and the public
  • Present a friendly, courteous image for Adelante to the general public, customers, and public officials
  • Ability to research and resolve problems
  • Capable of analyzing and modifying database activities

Other Requirements: Must pass pre-employment drug and TB screen, and Agency, Federal and State Department of Health background investigations. Must have own, reliable transportation and an insurable driving record. Must possess a valid NM driver's license, and proof of auto liability insurance. Must be able to sit, bend/stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, and be able to stand, walk, crawl, climb 2-3 feet, reach above shoulder(s), balance, lift 30 lbs, push/pull occasionally. Must be able to sit, stand or otherwise perform typing/keyboarding tasks as required to perform the essential duties of the position. Must be sufficiently mobile to travel to various locations, with little or no advance notice. Adelante is a drug free workplace. Job Type: Full-Time M-F 8am - 5pm.

Pay: From $50K annually DOE.
